Biography
Lina Esther Marea Peñalver (2000) was born in Caracas, Venezuela. She began her musical formation on the piano with Professor Luisa Sánchez at the age of six, and continued her studies in 2010 at the Mozarteum Caracas School of Music with Professor Carlos Urbaneja Silva. There, she also received Chamber Music classes with maestro Arnaldo Pizzolante from 2019 to 2020. Also, she has been part of numerous masterclasses with recognized artists such as Kristiina Junttu (Finland), Laura Silva (Venezuelan), Alexia Mouza (Greek) and Toshiki Usui (Japanese).
In 2020, she began her Bachelor in Music Performance in the Liceu Conservatory of Music in Barcelona, Spain, with concert pianist and teacher Josep María Colom Rincón. During her bachelor studies, she has received chamber music classes with Bulgarian pianist Vesko Stambolov. Likewise, she has participated in various masterclasses held by the conservatory, with musicians like Edith Fisher (Chilean), Eliane Reyes (Belgian), the Elias String Quartet (English), and Akiko Ebi (Japanese).
Some notable accomplishments throughout her career include recitals in some of the most important concert halls of Caracas, such as The Teresa Carreño Theatre, El Cerrito, Quinta de Anauco, Chacao Cultural Center, Humboldt Cultural Association, and the Fedora Alemán Hall with piano solo recitals. She was, moreover, among the finalists of the 2014 XII National Piano Competition Silvia Eisenstein and has performed in various chamber music recitals, including chamber music project Piano Ensembles directed by Professor Laura Silva and the XII Chamber Music Festival of the Mozarteum Caracas School of Music. In February 16th 2020, she debuted as a Guest Soloist with the Municipal Orchestra of Caracas and director Rodolfo Saglimbeni, performing the Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 2 op. 19 in B flat Major.
Her artistic career has also flourished in Barcelona, where she has held concerts in several music halls and spaces such as Sala Parés, the Auditorium of the Liceu Conservatory of Music and she has been a guest pianist in Festivals like “Toca'm” Piano Festival in Tortosa, Catalonia. Since 2021, she has been an active and prolific piano teacher, giving piano and music theory lessons in various schools to beginner and intermediate students. Moved by a deep passion for music and performance, her playing has been praised for its musicality, profound expression and refinement.
